Our Team

Steve Bennett
Steve founded the firm in 2002 having been a partner in another four partner Northland firm prior to this.
His previous career history includes banking, government sector and an international long term secondment whilst working for the largest Chartered Accountancy firm in the world.
Steve is recognised in the professional, banking and legal fraternity for his experience in:
- Maori Business Development
- Insolvency and Turnaround Management
- Assurance review and Investigation
Growing up in a small Northland rural community he understands small family owned and run businesses as well as being comfortable with advising the larger middle to corporate level clients

Tim Hoyle
Tim has five years previous audit experience for a multi-national accounting firm which included a two and a half year international secondment as audit manager. After leaving the multi-national accounting firm he gained six years’ experience in corporate and managerial roles for two international organisations. Tim’s experience includes auditing, corporate accounting, internal auditing, management advisory, system analysis, insolvency, taxation and computer system conversions.

Darin Robinson
Darin has a broad range of experience developed over the last twenty five years in CFO and Financial Controller roles for companies both in NZ and large multinational corporations offshore. Darin is a hands-on manager with expertise in accounting, systems development design and implementation. Darin is a real problem solver with a proven record for improving business efficiency and profitability. He adds value to any Board Room.
In these roles Darin was responsible for the total accounting and admin functions of the businesses including: preparation of monthly management accounts, performance analysis, benchmarking and KPI analysis, annual statutory accounts, consolidating group accounts, taxation, IT, financial and cashflow forecasting, project reporting, reporting to and attending Board meetings.
Darin grew up in Whangarei gaining some grass roots accounting and audit experience before taking up the more senior roles in Wellington and offshore.

Anna started working here in late 2006 and came from a background in Education. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Business. She works predominantly in the Business Services areas. Anna in conjunction with Steve assists and manages the majority of our Maori Business clients. Anna also heads our advisory team for Xero and MYOB support, in which she often visit our clients to train them in the use of these systems.

Jenny comes from a dairying, manufacturing, industrial and shipbuilding background. She has considerable experience in all office management procedures and is fully conversant in MYOB. Jenny joined SBA in 2006 many of our business services clients will have had contact with Jenny.

Serena has a Bachelor of Business degree majoring in Accountancy and is a Chartered Accountant. She has been working for Steve Bennett Associates since 2003. She has experience of both Business Management and Audit Assurance though she is now predominantly working in the area of Audit Assurance. Serena is the first contact person for the majority of our audit clients.

Tash joined our team in May 2008. She is currently studying towards the New Zealand Diploma in Business and intends to eventually continue with her papers to become a fully qualified CA. She started working with the accounting team doing Annual Accounts, GST and Tax Returns and has now become more predominately involved in doing Audit Assurance working alongside Serena.

Tracy is the first person you will meet when you walk through our front door reception. She has a diverse back ground from dairying through banking and legal experience. She has obtained her Legal Executive Certificate and is part way through completing her New Zealand Diploma in Business. Tracy has a dual role as our receptionist/secretary and will be familiar to many of clients as our first point of reference for the firm.

Jared joined our team in early 2011 and is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Applied Management majoring in accounting. He works alongside Anna and Jenny in the Business Services area.
Tammy established the firm along with Steve in 2002. Tammy is our Administration Manager and attends to management of our Trust Account as well as payroll processing for some of our clients.
